The ISX and Signature are Australia’s biggest selling heavy-duty truck engines.
Utilising cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to meet ADR80/03 emission levels, the ISX family extends from 450 hp/1650 lb ft to 600 hp/1850 lb ft, while the famous Signature badge denotes the top-performance rating of 600 hp/2050 lb ft.
There are no hardware changes from 485 hp/1850 lb ft to 600 hp/2050 lb ft, and all ratings 485 hp and above deliver best-in-industry engine brake performance of 600 retarding horsepower.
The Gen II EGR ISX and Signature engines were introduced in the second half of 2012 following a program of continuous product improvements to enhance reliability and durability, fuel economy and driveability.
Cooled EGR is a self-contained subsystem on the engine with no changes to Cummins’ proven base 15-litre design. Cummins’ VG (variable geometry) turbocharger provides precise boost control and improved driveability.
The only maintenance requirement for the diesel particulate filter (DPF) is replacement of the filter due to ash build-up. Maintenance intervals are up to 500,000 km depending on the application.
